Born in Pomona, California, Erin joined Segar & Sciortino in August of 2004 after clerking with the firm during her last year of law school. Erin attended SUNY Brockport where she was on the Dean’s list and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2001. Erin then earned her Juris Doctorate from the University at Buffalo Law School in May of 2004.
Throughout college Erin practiced the sport of Judo and has achieved the rank of ‘nikkyu’, a second degree brown belt. Judo continues to influence Erin’s professional life, “Judo teaches both self-reliance and the value of personal relationships. Judo demands efficiency and I try bring that principle to my working life.”
During law school Erin worked with the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPILP) in organizing its 2003 charity auction and was awarded a BPILP fellowship that year. The BPILP fellowship is a grant awarded to law students who demonstrate a continuing dedication to charitable service. Erin was also competitively selected as an associate editor to the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review where she helped to edit articles for publication. Erin also flexed her oral advocacy skills in the Desmond Memorial Moot Court competition.
Erin credits her father, Bruce, as the person who has had the most influence on her life. “My dad encourages me, no matter what I want to do. He firmly believes that anything can be accomplished with hard work and dedication. My dad has inspired me to accomplish all that I can.”
In her spare time Erin enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, gardening and reading.
